Celebrate New Years in the Mountains: 2009

The ski and snowboard web site MountainYahoos.com has released their annual list of the hottest New Years Eve celebrations at ski resorts. Ski resort destination ideas and activities so singles, couples and families can all find a destination and events to suite their personal style.

New Years Eve is a time to party and celebrate the beginning of a new year with all of the hopes and dreams a new beginning can bring. There is nothing more inspirational than a grand new start to the new year in the mountains at one of your favorite ski resorts or better yet, make it an adventure at a resort you have never been to, but have always wanted to visit.

Be bold and get a fresh start in style at Aspen or Chamonix, or with your family in Vail or Squaw Valley. Singles will like the scene in Whistler, Tremblant, Vail or Killington. The outdoor street party outside Harrah's in South Tahoe may appeal to a younger crowd on a budget. A local resort may also appeal to those wanting to minimize their efforts. Any way you look at it, celebrating New Years Eve at a ski resort in the mountains is an excellent way to begin the year.

For those wanting an exotic start, try Chamonix France and the splendor of the Montenvers Grand Hotel. Depart on a train December 31st at 8:00pm from the Chamonix Station to the hotel where you can dine and party the night and stay at their accommodations or optionally depart on the 1:30am or 3:30am train.

Squaw Valley in Tahoe California will take you up the cable car to the "High Camp" where there is ice skating, dinner and a New York New Years celebration at 9:00pm for the kids.

You will also find Stratton Vermont to be family friendly with crafts and face painting for the kids, dinner, a torch parade and fireworks.

For those wanting to gamble with a younger and healthier non-chain-smoking crowd than Vegas, check out South Lake Tahoe. For those who want to stay indoors and warm, go to the VEX at Harrah's or party in the street out front for free.

There is a style and scene to fit all somewhere in the mountain resorts. Check out the MountainYahoos.com New Years Ski Resorts Guide for more coverage of New Years Eve events.
