° Taos Resort Review
The summit of chair lift #2 is the gate to hike-able terrain along the Highline Ridge and along the West Basin Ridge. This upper terrain is open, steep, advanced and most importantly, difficult to get to so that it is the most likely area on the mountain to ski fresh untouched snow. The view above is as one emerges from the hike through the forest as finally access the ridge.

Follow this photo-journey along Highline Ridge:
Hike entrance at the top of lift 2
The hike to Highline Ridge starts in the woods
Small steps work best during the steeper portions of the ascent
At this point we emerge from the woods and approach the ridge
The first runs appear on the left. In this case it ("Donkey Seranade") was closed. You also will not find them all listed on the trail map. Repeat ridge hikers will know the names.
Once at the Highline Ridge, walk till you find the fresh snow and entrance you desire. Nasty cornices can develop making the selection of a safe entry point important.
