Cardrona (New Zealand)

Cardrona ski resort is conveniently located a one hour drive (36 miles/58 km) from Queenstown and its airport. Accommodations are typically made in Queenstown with a shuttle bus or rental car for transport to the mountains.

If renting a car, remember that they drive on the left had side of the road from the right side of the vehicle. There are few signal lights but an abundance of roundabouts driven in a clockwise direction. If you are from a country which is the opposite and you you feel that you can not adjust to this driving ecosystem, DO NOT DRIVE! It's always a prudent to rent tire chains as well in case they are needed.

  • Follow Sir Henry Wigley Drive and Lucas Place to State Highway 6
  • Follow State Highway 6 and Crown Range Rd to Cardrona Valley Drive
  • Look for a sign marking a left turn for the road to Cardrona ski resort.
    Drive 14 km on an unpaved mountain road
  • Follow the sign to the end at the resort parking
  Note that there are NO tolls or fees along the way. Yea!

Cardrona has four parking lots at the main lodge (A, B, C and a remote lot) and a single lot at the base of the "Valley View Quad" lift.
